I bounce between Smoke and Avid and am often baffled by this inability to access parts of the timeline beyond the start and end. On a Smoke, you simply type in the timecode and it takes you there… even if that is far beyond the end or start of your clips. Want bars at 58:30? No problem.

And in response to the Universal Studios Event, I found it sad when the audience cheared the fact that you can move a clip from one layer to the next. Are we so deprived of such basic functionality that we chear for something this mundane and basic? And what’s with that freakish wood head they use in thier advertising? It’s like a bunch of old rich white men trying to convince us that Rap music is the next big thing.

The ability to add filler at the end of a sequence. Why is this still impossible? What was the idea behind it in the first place?

All you need to do is add an edit mark at the end of the seq on a empty section of a track and “trim” out that edit. it basically adds black since it an empty section of the track. video or audio.
i know it sounds tedious but once you do it a few times its very fast and easy. so is adding the “add filler at start” command to the keyboard.
